Curio cabinets are made to display collections; they are typically narrow and have glass shelving with glass doors. There are curio cabinets that are made to be corner shelves. The back of the cabinet is angled to fit nicely into a corner of the room. With a cabinet that is not made to sit in the corner of the room if it is placed in the corner, caddy corner style, all of the floor space sitting behind it is lost. Corner shelving in the form of a curio cabinet frees up that space that otherwise would be lost by this initiative rear angled design.
The older corner type shelves used to have a decorative wood or metal bracket that would be visible. Although it was easily seen, it was made to blend into the decor of the room. With the modern corner shelves, they can be hung with out any of the brackets being seen. You can still get a large number with decorative wall brackets, but a floating type design has become so much more popular.
There are various choices in shelving design. One won't have a hard time finding the right kitchen shelving for his or her pantry. It's best to stay away from plastic shelving, however, as pantry stock can be quite bulky and heavy; wood or wire shelving units will do the trick.
