Consider Convenience Consider your family needs when you buy storage shelves. Baskets need to be accessible for the family members that will use them. Choose low shelves for a child's bedroom or playroom or if he is to play and then put his toys away by himself. Select a taller model if you need height to accent a room or want to store items out of the reach of curious pets or toddlers.
The corner shelf can also be a great place for a small television. You don't want to put a lot of weight on them, but a depending how it was mounted to the wall, some can handle up to 50 pounds. Screwing them directly onto the studs can dramatically increase the amount of weight they can bear. So be sure to follow all the manufacturers recommendations and limitations to avoid a disastrous situation.
For all loose items... photographs, papers, files, etc... put these items in some nice decorative containers. There are all kinds of magazine holders, boxes, baskets and file boxes that can be used to hold these loose items.
