Functions. Basically, functionality is the very first thing you have to consider in deciding to buy a shelving unit you will be using in your own kitchen. Try to find something that will give you your most demanded function. This can be analyzed by identifying the foods or utensils you wish to arrange on the racks as well as the number of supplies you are planning to organize.
Not all shelving is meant to be designed as corner shelving. It would be impractical for a book case to be made in the corner shelving design, because there would be valuable shelf space that could not be used to store books because of the angle of the back side of the shelves. A china cabinet or hutch would pose the same design problem.
Designer Tip: Lower or remove the top shelf on each book case and hang a framed print on the back of the book case... to fill in the back wall of the top shelves. Then place one or two small decorative objects on each shelf. Or remove one middle shelf (this is more ideal for narrow book cases) and display a tall object... like a vase... flower arrangement... scultpure.
