Shelving is one basic method to design various storage places in our house. Creativity has also hit this aspect of home decoration. There are various sorts of shelves available in the market. They come in all various shapes, sizes, colors, designs, material and even texture. One can store clothes, books, toys, gift items, show pieces, photo stands and mementos and many other things. Shelves are required in every part of the house. The variation arises from the type of use and the place it would occupy in the house. For example, there would surely be some difference between shelves placed in the kitchen than to those kept in the bedroom. Furthermore, what is important is the exact place it would occupy. That would precisely determine the shape and size of the shelves. There is a wide variety of shelves to choose from.
Create visual triangles: A well known designer technique that people may not notice at first is visual triangles. When grouping objects together, try to create visual triangles with items. This can be done with colors, shapes, sizes, or items. But the visual triangle will look pleasing without looking staged.
When we think of storage units for the home, people often think of the bedrooms or even the kitchen, and of course who could forget about areas like the garage. However, in many people's minds, rooms like a living room or a family room are not always a place where they might typically think is in need of storage. When you think of shelves for the home a common area like a family room or a den is a perfect place for additional storage.
Technological advancement has also provided a pre-engineered galvanized steel shelf model designed for harsh environments like areas which are very humid or in unheated warehouses. Applications will be for storage of solvents, cleaning agents and oily or greasy materials. You can avail of it in sections of 36" wide by 84" high with a choice of three depths.
Start with the bottom most shelf. The largest and heaviest items should go here. Do you have some large heavy books? Or a collection of large books? Or you could slide some really nice woven baskets onto the bottom shelf and have them hold your paperback stash. The point here is that the bottom shelf should have the weight.. both the visual weight and the actual weight. The items you place on this shelf don't necessarily have to be books. Maybe a large vase or urn... or a large globe.
