Not all shelving is meant to be designed as corner shelving. It would be impractical for a book case to be made in the corner shelving design, because there would be valuable shelf space that could not be used to store books because of the angle of the back side of the shelves. A china cabinet or hutch would pose the same design problem.
Stack books on top of each other... then on each side, line books up side by side to fill the shelf. Line books up side by side on only have the shelf and place a decorative object to fill the remaining space. Line books up side by side that fill the shelf up and have some really nice looking bookends on each side of the books. Stack some books and place a small picture frame or statuette on top of them Display three stacks of books side by side. Be sure to use a different book arrangement on each shelf for variety. It's OK if you don't have a lot of books. Simply display a couple items on each shelf and leave the open space. Don't forget the top of the shelf. You have the shelves filled and organized... but one of the most neglected area of a book shelf is the very top of it. Don't leave it bare. Place a silk plant and foliage arrangement in the top center.
There is something outright luxurious about glass shelves, and when shelves made of melted and polished sand are tastefully introduced into a home or office the effect is even more pronounced because of the inherent aesthetic value represented by the presence of different forms of glass. When metal and glass are fused together in the form of chrome and glass flat panels, the effect can make even the jaded observer step back a pace or two as result of the materials' ability to dominate the immediate space. The versatility and functionality of glass makes it the perfect appointment for today's contemporary home or apartment.
